VERBAL APPRAISAL

For the individual who does not require a written appraisal but still wants a general sense of what his objects are worth, Harry Rinker offers three types of verbal appraisals.

During a verbal appraisal, Rinker examines objects and immediately offers values based on his extensive field knowledge.  If additional research is required to determine value, he informs his clients.  Clients are encouraged to videotape, tape record, or make notes during the appraisal process.

Verbal appraisals offer an affordable approach to individuals serving as executors of an estate, individuals deciding what to (and not to) keep when thinking of downsizing, and those doing estate planning.

Walk-through Appraisal at Client's Home:

Rinker walks through the home and any outbuildings.  A typical home walk-through appraisal takes one to two hours.

At the conclusion of the appraisal process, especially if the client plans to use the appraisal values to determine what to sell and where to best sell it, Rinker sits down with the client and discusses options.

Fee:  $150.00 per hour.  Travel time at half rate

Appraisal at Home of Harry Rinker:

When a client has a limited number of objects that can be transported easily, he is encouraged to make an appointment to bring them to 5955 Mill Point Court SE, Kentwood, MI 49512.

Fee:  $50.00 per half hour.  Rinker can appraise between fifteen and twenty-five objects in a half-hour period

Telephone Appraisal:

For a fee of $40.00, payable in advance, a client can submit photographs of up to five objects for a verbal telephone appraisal. Detailed information (size, markings, family history, etc.) must be provided for each object. The client also must provide a full name, mailing address, and telephone number(s) at which he or she can be reached. Photographs and information can be submitted via e-mail (harrylrinker@aol.com) or mail (5955 Mill Point Court SE, Kentwood, MI 49512). Upon receipt of payment either by personal check or cash (cannot accept credit cards) sent to the Kentwood address, Harry will review the photographs and information and then call the client to discuss his findings and opinions.

WRITTEN APPRAISAL

Rinker provides written appraisals that conform to USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice) standards.  The primary use for these appraisals is to establish the value of a charitable gift, determine replacement value for insurance purposes, or for use in court proceedings.
